Motivation
Creative projects are my form of escape. I’m driven by a desire to create something new or transform something old because I can “see” the possibilities and enjoy watching them come to life. I get great satisfaction from completing a project I wasn’t really sure I could, or should, tackle in the first place. I often spend a lot of time visualizing the end product, and when it is completed in my mind, it is only a matter of time before it appears physically. It doesn’t always mirror what I pictured internally, but for me the pleasure of creation lies mostly in the process, not necessarily in the final output, and is remembered for the joy it brings rather than the frustrations.
I hope the projects on this site serve as testimony to women of all ages (especially my granddaughters) that you, too, can become a Creatrix, a woman who can do virtually any creative thing if you have the desire.
I’ve had no training in carpentry or construction, yet my family has walked around on my decks for years. I started painting as a weekend hobby and have now been in several juried shows. Writing is my favorite and most rewarding activity, but also the most difficult and challenging.
Here are some of my attempts to feed the ever-hungry Creative Dragon.
